Welcome to the Global Development Institute for Public Affairs (GDI).
The world today is undergoing a technological and industrial revolution, epitomized by artificial intelligence (AI), while also living in an era characterized by unprecedented human and material exchange, facilitated by internet-based communication. In this era of global connectivity and exchange, nations are critically rethinking the concept of "development."
For some developing countries, "development" signifies economic growth, while for others, it refers to advancements in administrative and political systems. Likewise, advanced nations are contemplating the multifaceted meaning of development within the context of increasingly diverse societies.
The Global Development Institute (GDI) is a research institute dedicated to addressing global development issues with a focus on public concerns.
Since its establishment in 2004, GDI has conducted research on innovative policies and programs that empower developing countries to achieve inclusive and sustainable social and economic development. We have provided training programs for public officials from governments in the Global South, sharing Korea’s experiences in economic and social development, as well as state-of-the-art research in public policy.
Moving forward, we aim to deepen our research on public policy and administrative systems shared by both developed and developing countries.
Furthermore, GDI seeks to inform policymakers in Korea and abroad on global development issues. We have played a pivotal role in shaping public discourse on international development cooperation, while maintaining an extensive international collaborative network with national and international agencies, as well as universities.
Another core mission of GDI is to support scholars in the field of development and to nurture the next generation of experts. We offer research fellowships for senior and junior scholars engaged in projects related to public policy and development studies.
As a leading research institute dedicated to contributing to the advancement and well-being of humanity, GDI looks forward to active collaboration with those who share our vision and interests.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
