Welcome to the Global Dievelopment Institute for Public Affairs (GDI).

Located at Seoul National University, the GDI is a leading research institute specializing in development policy research and training.

The research projects that the GDI has conducted are on innovative policies and programs that empower developing countries to achieve inclusive and sustainable social and economic development. Since its establishment in 2004, we have provided training programs for public officials form the governments in the Global South, sharing Korea’s economic and social development experiences as well as state of art research outcomes in public policies.

The GDI is also aimed at informing policy makers in Korea and abroad in the areas of global development issues. We played a significant role in shaping public discourse on international development cooperation. The GDI has maintained an extensive international collaborative network with national and international agencies as well as universities.

Supporting the scholars in the field of development and educating next generations of experts is another core mission of the GDI. We offer research fellowships for senior and junior scholars pursuing projects on public policies and affairs related to development.
